Excalibur’s Retroflec plastisol ink is a highly reflective ink for direct printing onto textiles. Light from headlights, or other light sources bounces back to it source as it reflects off the print. Retroflec can be used on a variety of fabrics including cotton, cotton/poly blends and even 100% polyester knitted fabrics. Because Retroflec’s reflectivity rating does not meet the insurance industry standards for safety clothing, it is not safety rated and should only be used for Halloween costumes and other novelty applications.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS
• High-opacity formulation provides excellent opacity on white, light and dark backgrounds.
• Easy-printing viscosity produces excellent results on both manual and automatic machines.
• Completely PVC-free, phthalate-free and lead-free formulation complies with all standards of Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) banning phthalates and heavy metals in textile-printing inks.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Screen Mesh: For best results a 110/inch (43cm) mesh is recommended
Printing Technique: Excellent reflective prints are achieved by printing one stroke that pushes the ink into the fabric, then without flashing, printing another layer on top of the first layer. A print/flash/print technique is not recommended and will produce worse results.
Modification: Any reduction of original viscosity is not recommended. If absolutely necessary, a small amount of Excalibur 501PF Cureable Reducer or 502PF Viscosity Reducers may be added to help printability.
Stencil: Any direct emulsion that is compatible with plastisol inks.
Squeegee: 60-70 durometer squeegee is recommended for best results.
Curing: To provide maximum washability it is recommended that prints be cured through a conveyorized dryer 45 seconds to 1 minute at 320°F (160°C). Because of the reflective nature of the beads in the ink a longer dwell time, a higher temperature or a combination of both may be needed to reach the full cure temperature.
Cleanup: TR Blend or Enviro Series 2000 is recommended for best results.
Storage: Retroflec should be stored in temperatures between 60-90 degrees with lids tightly secured to prevent any exposure to the outside environment.
Testing of Reflectivity:To test reflectivity always stand behind light source that is shining on the print. If using a flashlight, shine the light directly at the print with the back of the flashlight just in front of the tip of your nose.
Washing Instructions: For longer lasting reflective prints, always wash the garment inside out in cold water using mild detergents. Even with the extra care in laundering, depending upon the Ph of water and detergent used reflective plastisol prints will normally lose reflectivity after 15 washings.

CAUTION
Always test finished prints for curing, adhesion, opacity, reflectivity and desired look prior to beginning full production run. Lancer Group International cannot guarantee the results or back claims that this ink will test phthalate-free if any additive other than an additive manufactured by Lancer Group International is used to modify this ink.
