Now you can create special effects puff transfers in a single-step process that does not require an underbase with Excalibur’s 878SS Puff Transfer Series. 878SS is available in a base where pigments can be added to produce custom puff colours or it can be printed last as a backer for higher opacity on dark fabrics as well as giving the image a 3D, raised effect. It can be used with 900PF and 950PF hot-split inks, 960PF hot-peel inks or 600SS Super Strength Process Colours. Colours made with base and pigments or colours backed with 878SS will have an extremely soft hand feel.

  • Available in base and pigments to create customer transfer puff colours.
  • Single-step process that does not require an underbase for covering dark backgrounds.
  • Can be used as a backer to increase opacity on dark backgrounds.

Transfer Paper:  Soft Trans, Trans 55, Ultrastrip 3000, Tullis Russel or Transal.

Gel Temperature: 878SS Series must be gelled on the paper. If puffing occurs on the paper the transfer will not work properly as poor washability will occur. The inks will gel in a range of 220°F-240°F (104°C-116°C) for 60-90 seconds. Gel times are approximate only, and will vary with the dryer used and temperature in which the dryer is set. To determine proper time for your particular dryer perform the “Finger Test”. After gelling through dryer, tap the design with your finger. This should leave a slight mark without lifting any ink with your finger.

Mesh: 60-110/inch (24T-44T cm) screen mesh is recommended.

Stencil: Any stencil compatible with plastisol inks may be used.

Modification: None recommended.

Squeegee: 70 durometer squeegee blades are recommended for best results.

Transferring to Garment: 375°F-400°F (191°C-204°C) for 4 to 10 seconds at medium pressure.

Clean-up: Use Enviro Series 2000 Green or Enviro Series TR Blend.
