Excalibur’s 700PF Metallic Colours is a series of eight colours formulated from a crystal-clear base to give prints a stunning, shimmering and sparkling effect. The small size of the metallic flakes easily pass through 110/43T meshes. Because the metallic flakes are made of polyester the will not tarnish over time guaranteeing your prints maintain that sparkling appearance. 700PF Metallic Clear Base is also available for those printers wanting to add their own colored flakes.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
- Metallic flakes made of polyester to prevent tarnishing.
- 004.” x 004” size particle prints through meshes up to 110/43T Metric for finer detail designs.
- Easy-printing viscosity makes 700PF Metallic Colours an excellent choice for manual and automatic machines.
- Completely phthalate-free and lead-free formulation complies with all standards of Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) banning phthalates and heavy metals in textile-printing inks.
- Available in clear base to create custom, sparkling colors.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Gel Temperature: Ink will gel on surface at 240° F (126° C).
Curing: Excalibur 700PF Metallic Colours will fully cure when the entire ink film reaches 320° F (160° C.) and held at this temperature for at least 30 seconds. Because of the reflective nature of the metallic flakes it may require raising the temperature, a long dwell time inside the dryer or a combination of both to achieve full cure.
Heat Transfers: Excalibur 700PF Metallic Colours may be used in the production of cold peel transfers when used in conjunction with with Glitter-Strip Transfer Paper or any other paper suitable for printing metallic or glitter inks.
Mesh: For direct or transfer printing a 40-110/inch (16T-43Tcm) provides excellent results depending upon the detail within the design.
Stencil: Any stencil compatible with plastisol inks may be used.
Modification: Because plastisol inks are thixotropic and can body up during storage always stir ink thoroughly prior to printing or adding reducers. If necessary Excalibur 501PF Curable Reducer may be added to increase printability of ink and help clean ink from the screen. CAUTION: Adding too much Excalibur 501PF Curable Reducer will reduce opacity and reduce clarity thus altering the sparkling look of the metallic print.
Squeegee: 70 durometer or 90/70/90 triple durometer blades are recommended.
Printing Technique: A print/flash print technique may be necessary to produce desired results.
Clean-up: Use Enviro Series 2000 Green or Enviro Series TR Blend.
Mixing: Add 15% by weight of your metallic flakes to 700PF Metallic Clear Base and mix thoroughly.
COLOURS
Metallic Clear Base, Metallic Copper, Metallic Green, Metallic Purple, Metallic Red, Metallic Royal, Metallic Gold Sparkle, Metallic Old Gold, Metallic Silver.
CAUTION
Always test finished prints for curing, adhesion, opacity, and desired look prior to beginning full production runs. Lancer Group International cannot guarantee the results or back claims that this ink will test PVC-free or phthalate-free if any additive other than an additive manufactured by Lancer Group International is used to modify this ink. Test results by a third-party laboratory verifying all components used to produce this ink are PVC-free, phthalate-free and lead-free are available upon request.
Technical Information
Screen Mesh: For Metallics, use 80-110/inch (32-44cm) mesh. For Glitters, use 24-30/inch (10-12cm) mesh. For Glow-in-the-Dark, use 80-160/inch (32-64cm) mesh.
Curing: Because of the bright reflective nature of Metallics, extra time may be required. Glitter inks will require extra curing time because of the very heavy deposit of ink. The inks will be cured when the entire thickness of the ink film reaches 325°F (163°C).
Heat Transfers: All 700 Series Inks can be used as cold peel heat transfers. Inks should be printed onto release paper such as T-75, and semi-gelled onto the paper. Metallic Inks should be printed through a 80-110/inch (32-44cm) mesh. Glitter Inks should be printed through a 24-30/inch (10-12cm) mesh. Transfer at 350°F (177°C) for 10 to 15 seconds and peel cold.
High Gloss Glitter, Metallic & Crystallina Transfers: To achieve a high gloss effect, the 700 Series Glitter and Metallic Inks should be printed on a gloss release paper such as G-97.
Litho Glitter Transfers: The Litho Inks are screen printed on a high gloss release paper such as G-97. The paper is then screen printed with a glitter ink through a 30/inch (12cm) mesh. Portions of the design are printed with 700 Series Glitter and the rest of the design will be printed with 555 Litho White to give a combination effect. White is printed first with a 110/inch(44cm) mesh and the Glitter is printed last.
Ink Cleanup: Use Enviro Series 2000 Green or Enviro Series TR Blend.
Ink Modification: To reduce the viscosity of the ink, slight amounts of 502/902 Reducer may be added to the plastisol ink (up to 5%).
