900PF Series Hot-Split Transfer Ink

Excalibur’s900PF and 950PF Series are both hot-split transfer inks that when used in conjunction with the appropriate hot-split transfer paper splits during the heat transfer application process allowing 75-80% of the ink to transfer to the shirt producing a soft, opaque print with a surface texture that simulates a direct print. The 900PF Series is formulated for white or light-coloured shirts while the 950PF Series produces opaque prints that easily cover dark backgrounds. A ready-for-use colour mixing system containing 11 components as well as a base and pigment colour mixing system is available to produce PANTONE© and custom colours. The 900PF Series is also available in 19 special-effects inks ranging from glitters, metallics and glow in the dark.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Transfer Paper:  Any paper manufactured for the production of hot-split transfers.

Gel Temperature: Ink gels at 240° F (105° C).

Mesh: 900PF Series produces excellent results on white and light colours of 100% cotton when printed through meshes ranging betwee80-160/inch (32T-64T cm) mesh.  950PF produces opaque colors on dark textile when inks are printed through coarse meshes ranging between 80-125/inch (32T-40T cm).

Stencil: Any stencil compatible with plastisol inks may be used.

Modification: Because plastisol inks are thixotropic and can body up during storage always stir ink thoroughly prior to adding reducers. If necessary up to and not more than 5% 902PF Viscosity Reducer may be added increase printability of ink and to help ink clean from the screen. CAUTION: Adding too much reducer can reduce opacity, decrease ink-film strength or affect transfer characteristics.

Squeegee: 70 durometer squeegee blades are recommended for best results.

Transferring to Garment: All 900PF and 950PF Series Inks are designed to be transferred at 375°F-400°F (191°C-204°C) for 6 to 12 seconds at medium pressure.  If transfer has been properly gelled approximately 75%-80% will “split” from the paper and transfer to the garment.

Clean-up: Use Enviro Series 2000 Green or Enviro Series TR Blend.

CAUTION

Always test finished prints for curing, opacity, adhesion and desired look prior to beginning full production runs. Lancer Group International cannot guarantee the results or back claims that this mixed ink will test phthalate-free if any additive other than an additive manufactured by Lancer Group International is used to modify this ink. Test results by a third-party laboratory verifying all components used to produce this ink are phthalate-free and lead-free are available upon request.

Transfer Paper: Excalibur Hot Split Inks will work well on most commonly used papers such as Soft Trans, Trans 55, Ultrastrip 3000, Tullis Russel or Transal.

Screen Mesh: For metallic colors use a 40-110/inch (16T-44T cm) mesh. For other colors use a 40-160/inch (16T-64T cm) mesh. For opaque colors on dark textile fabrics it is recommended to use course meshes of 40-80/inch (16T-32T cm).

Curing: It is important to “Gel” the inks on the paper rather than fully curing them. Recommended gelling temperature is 240°F-260°F (116°C-127°C) for 30 to 60 seconds - use of temperature strips will help to calibrate the curing with the dryer you are using. If you are using Plastisol Puff and Printable Adhesives these will be printed and gelled last. Improper curing of hot split transfers can affect the shelf life, release and opacity. Be careful not to under cure as this can affect the shelf life.

Reducers: 900 Series Hot Split Inks are formulated ready for use. If it is necessary to reduce viscosity use 902 Viscosity Reducer.

Squeegee: Medium Durometer (70) is recommended.

Stencil: All types of stencils may be used for screen printing 900 Series Plastisol Inks.

Transferring: All Excalibur Hot Split Inks are designed to be transferred at 375°F-400°F (191°C-204°C) for 6 to 12 seconds at medium pressure.

Ink Cleanup: Use Enviro Series 2000 Green or Enviro Series TR Blend.
